Our Story

Sleevenotes started in 2024 with a simple frustration: streaming made it too easy to forget what we listen to. With physical records, your collection grew on a shelf. A visible map of your taste. With streaming, albums blur together. You listen to something incredible on a Tuesday and can't remember the name by Friday.

But there was a bigger problem. Online music discussion had become exhausting. People were reviewing albums they never listened to, riding hate waves for engagement, dropping scores on things they skimmed for thirty seconds. The loudest voices weren't the most informed, they were just the most reactive. Real opinions from real listeners were getting buried under noise.

We wanted to fix both problems at once. So we built Sleevenotes, a platform that tracks your listening automatically and requires you to hear the full album before you can review it. One rule that changes everything about the quality of the conversation.

Our Mission

We're building the healthiest music community on the internet. Not the biggest, not the loudest. The healthiest. A place where every opinion is backed by a complete listen. Where you can trust that the person reviewing an album actually sat with it. Where discussion is driven by people who care about music, not clout.

Beyond community, we want to help you build something personal. Your collection on Sleevenotes is a living record of your musical life: every album you finish, every rating you give, every review you write. Rank an artist's discography. Rank your year in music. Watch your taste evolve over time. It's the record shelf you lost when everything went digital.

Our Team

Sleevenotes is built by a small team of music lovers and engineers based in the United States. We listen to everything from jazz to metal to hip-hop to ambient, and we use this thing every day. If you have ideas, feedback, or just want to talk music, we're always listening. Reach out on our contact page.
